Reverse Instruction: Engaging students in deep meaningful learning

Time: 11/14/2012 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM

Location: Viking Union 462A/B

Join special guest, Jeff Utecht,* educational technology consultant and author, for an inspiring 90-minute workshop on engaging students through "reverse instruction" (a.k.a., flip teaching). Please register for this event through WWU Training.

Students today have access to a breadth and depth of knowledge on the Internet that has the potential to change the way we think about learning in the classroom. How can faculty use this wealth of content to engage students in deep meaningful learning in the classroom? This workshop will discuss the pedagogy behind reverse instruction (a.k.a., flip teaching) and what it means for a new model of homework and how class time is maximized to take advantage of students discovering content on their own. The premise behind this model of learning is to engage students in deep meaningful discussions with the instructor and each other.
