    The study of societies that contrast with Western civilization, leading to an acquaintance with the concept of culture and its importance to an understanding of human behavior. Emphasis on understanding each culture from its own point of view rather than from our own.

    Training eye and ear to appreciate the work of the filmmaker. Analysis of the basic conventions of technique with an emphasis on critical exposition.

    We will explore the relationship of cinema and cultural anthropology—who we are and how film reflects and shapes behaviors in our world. We will examine our roles from societal, cultural and environmental perspectives, then explore how the cinematic medium expresses these values. We will learn to utilize numerous campus resources in order to explore these topics, including faculty, library, technology services, and others. Make connections with professors and examine perspectives across different fields of study. Collaborate with peers through discussions, projects, and presentations.
