Instructions for Setting up an FYE Course

Departments are responsible for proposing new or existing courses as First Year Experience (FYE) courses. Be sure to review the criteria.

Email the following to the GER Committee at grp.FS.ACC.GUR@wwu.edu

1. FYE Course Proposal Form
2. GUR Course Proposal Form (if required)
3. New Course Form (if not an existing course)
4. Course syllabus or outline
5. List of required reading assignments
6. Methods use to evaluate students' work

Notes

• For a new course, send a copy of the FYE Course Proposal Form, New Course Form, and syllabus to your college curriculum committee.
• For existing courses, send only the FYE Course Proposal Form
• Departments must enter the course attribute of "FR only" in order to restrict registration to first-year students.
