This showcase features the curricular transformation of two Journalism courses, Journalism 190, Introduction to Mass Media, and Journalism 309, Editing. It chronicles the work done over several years by Dr. Tim Pilgrim, Associate Professor in Western Washington University's Journalism Department, and exhibits some examples of student learning.

Select the link to the Portfolio for detailed descriptions of Dr. Pilgrim's development of the courses, the effects of the transformation on student learning, as well as the academic principles guiding the pedagogy. Select the link to Institutional Goals to understand how the re-structured courses help meet institutional goals for infusing critical thinking, writing, and information-seeking skills into the curriculum. Select Multimedia Showcase to watch movies featuring Dr. Pilgrim as well as students discussing the courses. You can also see an example of a student streaming media "webcast."
